Field Modification of Ten-Tec model 516 Argonaut to Reduce Potential of SSB TX Distortion. The information contained here describes modifications to the ALC threshold and microphone level adjustment ranges. These changes were introduced in production in October of 2004. It is important that the hardware modifications be done along with the firmware. The modifications together make the SSB transmitter adjustment easier. Using version 1.08 firmware in an unmodified radio may have the opposite effect and make ALC and MIC gain adjustments more difficult. Using firmware version 1.07 and earlier with a modified radio should not cause any problems.
